Inspire Your Employees

Employee 1 Are your employees unmotivated?  Are they listless?  Maybe they’re disinterested in their work?  Then it’s time to inspire them!  Inspired employees want to use their skills to their fullest potential.  And you want them to passionately strive to achieve company goals. Give your workers an added jolt of energy.  Help them love coming to work every day!  You may be asking, “How do I accomplish this?” If your employees are filling their basic needs with their paychecks, then they often need meaningful work to stay motivated.  They need to see their ability to make a difference and a contribution.  Meaningful work helps employees perform at their peak and to play a vital role in the success of your business. Look at yourself first: If you are not passionate about your business, then chances are, you are not able to inspire your employees. Re-energize your own enthusiasm about your business! Focus on the talents of the employees: When people get to do what they love and what they do best, they often perform at their highest abilities, giving your employees the option to shine. Reward your employees: If you have motivated employees who take smart risks and help achieve a company goal, make sure you reward them.  It will not only boost their morale, but it will inspire them to do achieve again and again. Thank your workers: Remember to express your gratitude.  Inspired employees are worth their weight in gold. Do what you must to keep them happy…and on the payroll. How to provide the best customer service

-Ideally, you need to have a life that's congruent and harmonized. (2)There is a false belief out there that being available to your customers 24/7 is the best service you can provide.  For some reason, professionals believe they should be available to their customers at all times, take their calls immediately, always see them when they appear, and be there at the drop of a hat.  This is actually a recipe for disaster.  Here is why… It’s dysfunctional to make yourself available anytime, day or night.  Actually, it’s impossible. Ideally, you need to have a life that’s congruent and harmonized.  You need to get a good night’s sleep.  You need to exercise, relax, and eat healthy.  You need clarity around your values and your daily activities need to be aligned with those values. I bet you’re wondering this:  “My customers expect me to be available when they need me. People don’t like to be put off.”  You believe that if your customers want it, they want it NOW.  You believe that by being available to them 24/7, you stay ahead of your competition in a competitive market. I ask you this:  Are you Superman?  Are you a machine?  Even machines need downtime for maintenance.  And cell phones need to be charged.  Well rested, fit, and happy people provide the best customer service. Now you’re probably thinking:  “How can I change?  What about my spouse, my children, my friends…they all expect me to be there for them when they need me.”  This is a great response.  Here’s the thing…you have taught them all to expect you to be there 24/7.  It is now time to re-educate everyone!!  But you must start with YOU! Step 1:  Define your values and what is most important to you. Step 2:  Create a few simple rules and habits that will support those values. Step 3:  Schedule some great conversations with your family, friends, and customers. The purpose of the conversations is to create agreements on how you can best serve and relate to them, without make them upset or hurting their feelings.  And you must include a clean understanding of your limitations and availability.  The result will bring better customer service, and a better YOU! YOUR CHALLENGE:  Set a goal (timeline) for yourself when it comes to re-defining your values. Consider the conversations you need to have with others to get to the result! Is your goal reasonable?   Can you create a better YOU? How to Convert Employees into Team Members

How to Convert Employees into Team Members (2) Wondering why your employees don’t take more ownership?  Do your employees have an entitlement mentality?  Want to know how to get your workers to care more about their jobs? Does it seem as if everyone just works for a paycheck? These questions come up often in my business.  I hear many complaints about work ethic and mentality issues.  I do believe the root cause of this is a LACK of strong leadership! Yes…YOU are the reason your workers are not stepping up! Reality:  You currently have the team that you deserve.  Want a better team?  Then learn how to build one.  Ultimately you want the RIGHT people in your business. Ask yourself these two questions: 1.  If any of your workers left your business today, would you feel good or bad? 2.  If you knew when you hired your worker what you know about them now, would you hire them today? Your answers will tell you if you have the RIGHT people in your business.  If you want a great business team, then you have to be proactive and make sure all your workers are RIGHT for your business. Once you have the RIGHT workers, then you will need to decide what position is RIGHT for them.  You are the one who will determine this!  As a leader, you need to build your team around the strengths of each worker.  It is crucial to create, define, and clearly communicate descriptions for each worker/role in your business. A strong team starts with a strong leader.  Share what spires common vision, missions, and values.  Make sure that each team member knows their role, how they are going to be measured and compensated, and facilitate clear action plans for the team. You need to work ON the business.  It will bring huge returns in profit and happiness. Feel free to contact me if you need help getting rid of mediocre employees…roll up your leadership sleeves and work ON your business…today!! PJ's New Pic (smaller) ActionCoach-logo
YOUR CHALLENGE:  Take a good, hard look at your team members.  Are they working up to your expectations?  Is it time to wean out the old and make way for a new, more productive team? Networking as a Marketing Strategy

Network (all-free-download)

The #1 reason businesses “network” is to increase leads to the business and make more money. When you ask a business owner where “networking’ ranks in importance in their marketing plans most will always say it’s in the top 3 strategies. So, if the #1 reason businesses join BNI, join a chamber, or other group is for networking and networking is one of the top marketing strategies…then it begs the question: What are you doing, reading, or attending to increase your knowledge and skills in networking? Here are some tips to make your networking an effective marketing strategy… Before you head out the door….
  • Be clear on ideal customers
  • Identify the best networking functions to attend (find out from others where your ideal customer ‘hangs out’)
  • Set goals for how many new prospects you’d like to meet at the event
In the moment….
  • Top 4 things that must exist if someone is going to buy from you: They must like you, believe you, have confidence in you, and trust you (if all four exist, they may buy from you. If any one of the four is missing, they will never buy from you.)
  • Of these four things (like, believe, confidence, and trust), like is the most important. It is the “ticket in the door”. A prospect must like you before they will ever believe you, have confidence or trust you. No one ever says, “I trust that person but I don’t like them…”
  • The “close” in networking is to get an ideal target to agree to a one-on-one follow-up meeting. Get a very specific commitment if possible.
After you connect with someone….
  • Prompt follow-up (Have a system for same day if possible.)
  • Send a personal note by mail! (The average worker in the U.S. gets 52 emails a day and over 50% are deleted without opening. 6 billion individual pieces of mail are delivered each year in the U.S. – 75% are thrown in the trash without opening. But, over 90% of handwritten, hand addressed notes are opened and viewed – which statistic do you choose?)

YOUR CHALLENGE:  Take a look at the current networking you are doing and look for two ways that you can improve your effectiveness. If you would like further information or you have any questions about this blog, you can email me at pjweiland@actioncoach.com or call 847-739-3079.
