How to Reach Your Audience

When running a small business, it’s best practice to develop a solid marketing strategy.  One of your main goals is to rise above the competition.  You not only want to reach your target audience, but you want to appeal to your niche customers so you get more out of your marketing plan. We all know that it’s best to stand out as the number one expert in your field.  That is why it’s extremely important to start with your niche customers.  You want to focus on a tight market so you can reach new leads faster, with a higher chance of turning them into buyers. Here are some tips to reach your target audience:
  1. Find out what value your business brings to your customers.
  2. Identify how much customers spend with you, and how often.
  3. Send surveys on a consistent basis for feedback to make improvements.
  4. Track the activity of your top competitors to find the value they provide their customers.
  5. Reposition yourself in the market by re-branding or adjusting pricing, if needed.
  6. Update your marketing plan to reflect any changes in customer spending.
Remember that building relationships with, and listening to, your customers not only gives you the opportunity to find that specific niche, but it provides your business with the opportunity to grow.  Don’t let your business get stuck, or lost in the shuffle. Consistently make changes based on what your audience wants and needs.  Rise above the rest and STAY the expert in your field. PJ's New Pic (smaller) ActionCoach-logo

Powerful Networking

In business, the people you know and the connections you make have a powerful impact on your success.  Your professional and personal network becomes your net worth.  To grow your sales you must work hard at building relationships with your customers. To continuously grow and maintain your network, it’s necessary to attend networking events regularly.  It’s also important to create a plan.  Here are some tips to powerful networking:
  1. Before attending an event, try and get your hands on an attendance list so you can plan to network with the individuals who match your target customers.
  2. Focus on meeting only a handful of qualified contacts so you can successfully follow-up with them after the event.  Keep your goal simple…don’t over network.
  3. When you’re at an event, make sure you actively listen to others.  Plan to listen first and give valuable, relative information second.
  4. After the event, follow-up within 48 hours.  Connect with them on LinkedIn and send them an email.  The follow-up is your fortune!!
Making contacts, assisting others, and establishing relationships is extremely important for any entrepreneur. They’re all a form of networking and they all play an important role in growing your business! PJ's New Pic (smaller) ActionCoach-logo

Accountability = Responsibility

When owning a business, you quickly learn that being accountable means being responsible.  Leadership positions come with a list of duties (responsibilities).  Accountability is holding yourself to a high enough standard (and having the knowledge and characteristics) to actually complete the list. Business owners need to display a positive work ethic and take pride in their work.  They must ensure the job is done and accept responsibility for the results.  They are serious in character and go the extra mile when needed. Accountability and Responsibility go hand-in-hand.  To run a successful business, everyone is equally responsible for their tasks.  All employees should work together and toward the same goals.  Leaders need to be held accountable for the work of their team members.  This often means building strong teams and using motivational techniques. Here are some suggestions to help run a more productive and efficient workplace: 1 – Create task lists for each employee so they know what is expected of THEM. 2 – Introduce incentive programs so your employees are motivated to reach common goals and beyond. 3 – Individually award each employee for putting in the time, making the effort, and following through with their responsibilities. Inspiring others, making it meaningful to you and your team, and teaching valuable lessons makes for a successful leader.  Holding yourself and your team accountable, reaching goals beyond what is expected, and carefully managing time makes for a successful business.  PJ's New Pic (smaller) ActionCoach-logo
