Keep Employees Engaged During the Holiday

The holiday season is a festive time filled with work parties and other exciting engagements.  But, it’s important to stay focused and successfully keep your staff engaged and productive during this time. Making more sales isn’t the only thing your business should be focused on.  Remember, your employees are stressed from an overload of interaction with customers, and a lengthy to-do-list before the end of the year.  It’s important for leaders to empower their staff this time of year.  Learn to engage your team members, to boost morale and keep a happy culture. Here are a few ways to engage your employees:Listen to your employees.  Include them in important decision making.  Ask for their input.  And acknowledge them for their efforts. – Have regular interactions with your staff.  Remind them they’re part of a team, and this consistency will allow them to stay focused, helping them achieve their goals, boosting their confidence. – Don’t micromanage.  Let them take the lead in heated discussions or customer issues.  Show your employees that you trust and value them.  This also boosts their confidence and makes them feel wanted. These small details can make a huge difference between a successful holiday season and a stressful one.  Proper engagement leads to a positive culture.  Commit to these tasks and you’ll have a winning end to your year, and happy employees too. rsz_2018-headshotActionCoach-logo

Ways to Market Your Business in 2019

For 2019, you’ll want to get creative with your marketing ideas.  Your ultimate goal is to attract new customers.  Business owners really need to think outside the box when it comes to getting people’s attention. Here are a few different marketing ideas to consider using this coming year: – Have contests and giveaways.  Everyone loves to WIN.   Don’t ask too much from your followers in order for them to enter.  Focus more on how you’re getting others to participate.  Focus less on what you’re giving away.  But make sure to align your prize with your target audience. – Use attention grabbing images.  The images you use in digital marketing must tell others what your company is all about.  People should want to click on it because it’s captured their attention.  Put time into these graphics.  The ideas is to hook them before they even visit your website. – Post more pictures and videos on social media.  Give your audience a better idea of who you are and what your business is all about, behind the scenes.  This shows off the authenticity of your business, and allows you to build relationships through engagement. – Create a company blog.  People turn to the Internet to find engaging content.  They want value.  Your goal is for them to visit your website and click on your blog, to find answers to their questions, and to gain real value from your expertise. rsz_2018-headshotActionCoach-logo

Planning for the Year Ahead

Are you hoping to make the new year more profitable?  More productive?  More successful?  If you plan on making the coming year ahead a real turning point in your business, then you’ll need to consider some of these strategies for success. 1 – Don’t think of the year as a whole.  Break it down into monthly metrics.  Make sure to have quarterly goal-planning reviews of your marketing plan.  And keep a close eye on your results. 2 – Don’t attempt everything by yourself.  Contact your allies, referral sources, and partners to help you grow your business.  Build relationships and collaborate more this coming year. 3 – Plan, Plan, Plan.  Map out what needs to get done, and when it’s going to get done.  Break down specific tasks into blocks of time each day, or each week.  Stay on track with your goals for each month, each quarter, and each year. 4 – Embrace the new year.  Letting go and making changes can be scary and uncomfortable.  But, embracing new ideas to move ahead in your business has proven to be very successful. rsz_2018-headshotActionCoach-logo

Team Building During the Holidays

The holidays are the perfect time to bring team-building activities to any company.  They help relieve stress and teach employees to work together more effectively. Here are some fun team-building activities: – Divide employees into teams.  Challenge the teams to raise money or items for charity. The idea is to get the team members to work together toward a goal.  Decide on a suitable prize for the winning team. – Start a Secret Santa project.  Decide on a cost limit as a team.  Have each team member write down on a piece of paper their name, some gift ideas, and something about themselves that others might not know.  Pass out a name to each person.  Reveal the secret gifts at a company holiday party. – Give employees an intellectual challenge.  Organize a scavenger hunt in the office.  Divide employees into small teams, and supply them with a set of clues for finding certain items.  After they’ve all been found, donate them to a local strategic partner or shelter. – Have a decorating contest.  Encourage employees to decorate their offices in a departmental theme.  Each department will work together to come up with ideas.  Make it fun and encourage original ideas.  Have a potluck dinner to hand out prizes to the winning team(s). Team building activities bring the workplace closer and promotes healthy company culture.  The holidays are a great time of year to provide these opportunities to your staff. rsz_2018-headshotActionCoach-logo
