Signs of Disengaged Employees

If you have disengaged employees, your business will suffer.  Productivity slows, communication does not flow, and projects come to a halt.  Employees may become disengaged for many reasons, some personal, some professional. That’s why it’s necessary to know the signs of a disengaged employee.
  1. Communication Issues.  If you have employees who don’t participate in meetings, or have decreased productivity due to poor communication with team members, they could be disengaged.
  2. Missing or Silent.  If you have employees who never answer their phone calls or emails, who miss meetings, or are absent from work a lot, they could be disengaged.
  3. Bad work quality.  If you have employees who have a decline in work quality, show up late to team meetings, or are missing deadlines, they may be disengaged.
  4. Burnout.  If you have employees who are tired and inefficient, they may be suffering from work overload (or burnout), causing them to be disengaged.
  5. Impolite and rude.  If you have employees who don’t go that extra mile, who lash out at coworkers or customers, or speak rude to others, they may be disengaged.
It’s important to have consistent communication with your employees, touching base often to make sure they are happy.  Making sure they’re expectations and needs are being met is extremely important for their health, and the health of your business. rsz_2018-headshotActionCoach-logo

How to Effectively Lead a Team

If you are leading a growing company, you want to deliver desired results and be respected by your team. It is possible to lead a team and maintain a positive environment.  Ideally, you want to become more than just a boss.  You want to become an effective leader. Tips to become an effective leader: 1 – Don’t keep changing methods.  Find a specific strategy and stick to it.  Constantly changing directions can make a team feel frustrated, never knowing when the next time will come when you’re planning to change things up, again. 2 – Have clear goals.  Make individual and team goals, and make sure you track their progress.  This inspires and motivates your team members.  It also helps you improve your results for future projects. 3 – Educate your team members.  As your company grows, those within the company have to grow too.  Provide training for employees.  Team members often thrive on self-development.  Give them opportunities to consistently improve. 4 – Create a nurturing work environment.  From decorations, to furniture, to music, to break rooms, and more.  A comfortable, well-designed work space can improve team performance, which increases production within your company and makes for a content company culture. rsz_2018-headshotActionCoach-logo

Tips to Customer Loyalty

It’s important to keep your product/service at the top of your customers’ minds.  This means you need to have frequent interaction with them, giving them unexpected positive experiences, adding value that sets you apart from your competitors. Here are some ideas that will gain customer loyalty, and give them a reason to keep coming back: 1 – Thank You Notes:  Hand-write personal notes, thanking them for their business or saying you appreciate them.  Your customers will rave about you. 2 – Following Up:  Always follow-up with a note, phone call, personal visit, or an email.  Don’t assume your customers are always happy with your service/product. 3 – Product Purchase Anniversary:  Take a moment to send a card to update them on your business, to check that everything is going well, or to remind them their warranty is about to expire. 4 – Company Birthday Celebration:  Thank your customers for helping your business grow.  Send them a personalized note attached to an advertisement telling them about your birthday sales. These small gestures will make your customers feel valued, special, and important.  They may be small acts, but they can yield big results. rsz_2018-headshotActionCoach-logo

How Leadership and Teamwork Lead to Business Success

Teamwork must start with strong leadership, and here’s 4 reasons why:
  1. Team leaders keep the team accountable
  2. Team leaders empower team members
  3. Team leaders streamline the decision-making process
  4. Team leaders keep projects moving forward
Your team should be facilitated by a leader who has a clear direction that steers the team toward a specific vision.  Leaders should not be intimidated by the team.  They should be confident.  They should involve the team in conversation that brings high production and great performance.  Leaders should also motivate and empower the team. They should be the one who makes the best choices; who was clearly appointed leader by the whole team.  Leaders should also have a clear vision to share.  If they do not provide a clear vision, the team is less likely to be inspired to follow because of unpredictability. Great leaders deliver expertise, commitment, dedication, motivation, focus, and concern for others.  They are goal-oriented and understand the best way to communicate.  All of these characteristics lead to productive teamwork and overall success within a company. Does your company have a team that is facilitated by the right kind of leader? If you’d like to work on leadership skills with a professional business coach, contact me for a complimentary session. Are You Ready to Grow Your Business?

If you’re considering expanding your small business, first make sure you’re actually ready for growth.  Even if you’ve had recent business success, there are other things you should look at. Do you have regular customers? If you have a steady, growing base of customers that demand your product or service, then you may be ready for growth.  Repeat customers are great!  Sales have to be consistent, though.  If you see a sudden spike in customers, that doesn’t mean you’re ready to expand. Wait to see if that increase is temporary or consistent. Do your customers ask you to grow? Do they ask for more products/services?  Do they ask for you to be open longer hours?  Do they have any specific requests that you can’t currently fulfill?  If you know your business growth will satisfy your customers and increase sales, then you might want to invest in expanding. Do you have a consistent net income? If your profits are consistently increasing, then you may be ready for growth.  Don’t focus on short-term success.  If you do have a regular income, invest some of those profits into your business.  Hopefully expanding will also grow your income. How is your industry doing? Do you see a growth in your industry? Have you checked industry trends recently?  Is your market on the rise?  Don’t plan to expand if your industry is fading.  If your industry is not growing, you still might be able to expand your business by offering new products/services. Do you need more workers due to an overflow of business? If your demand is higher than you can handle, then you may want to expand your business by hiring more workers or getting a bigger space. Ask yourself these five questions before you expand your business.  If you feel you need to hash out these concerns with a professional business coach, contact me for a complimentary session. I’d love to help guide you through this process.
