Ways to Market Your Business in 2019

For 2019, you’ll want to get creative with your marketing ideas.  Your ultimate goal is to attract new customers.  Business owners really need to think outside the box when it comes to getting people’s attention. Here are a few different marketing ideas to consider using this coming year: – Have contests and giveaways.  Everyone loves to WIN.   Don’t ask too much from your followers in order for them to enter.  Focus more on how you’re getting others to participate.  Focus less on what you’re giving away.  But make sure to align your prize with your target audience. – Use attention grabbing images.  The images you use in digital marketing must tell others what your company is all about.  People should want to click on it because it’s captured their attention.  Put time into these graphics.  The ideas is to hook them before they even visit your website. – Post more pictures and videos on social media.  Give your audience a better idea of who you are and what your business is all about, behind the scenes.  This shows off the authenticity of your business, and allows you to build relationships through engagement. – Create a company blog.  People turn to the Internet to find engaging content.  They want value.  Your goal is for them to visit your website and click on your blog, to find answers to their questions, and to gain real value from your expertise. rsz_2018-headshotActionCoach-logo

Strategies for Successful Lead Generation

All businesses should be using lead generation strategies to better meet the needs of their target audience.  To do this, you first have to create captivating content and then use that content to convert visitors to leads. When visitors come to your website, you need to capture their email address.  But just asking for an email address is kind of like saying “We are going to spam you.” Instead, you want to give them something of value in return for their email address.  Some examples are:
  • A free trial
  • A free webinar
  • A free ebook
  • A free whitepaper
  • A free set of tips
Here are some other lead generation ideas that can help prospects instead of pushing them to buy from your company:
  • Create help videos to solve common problems
  • Provide quizzes as a creative way to learn more about them
  • Create a worksheet that simplifies a process
  • Provide a list of useful tools or helpful resources
  • Compile examples or case studies for them to learn from
  • Host a contest or a giveaway
  • Create an email course the includes in-depth topics
  • Provide a checklist for them to download
The main goal is to “exchange” something of value with your audience for their email address, so you can continue to provide support again and again, in hopes of them remembering your brand and eventually turning to you to solve their problems! PJ's New Pic (smaller) ActionCoach-logo

Giving You an Edge Over the Competition

The key to beating your competition is having the right attitude.  It’s not always about knowledge or skill, but about acquiring the attributes that can put you in the right mindset for achieving business success. Here are 5 helpful tips:
  1. Have Passion:  Passion is something that can’t be taught. Passion will help you overcome obstacles within your business.  During difficult times, try to remember why you started the business in the first place.
  2. Forget Fear of Failure:  Don’t let fear hold you back.  Remember, failure is an opportunity to learn and grow.  Moving ahead from your failures is good. Quitting from your failures is bad.
  3. Accept Criticism:  Allow your staff to be honest with you. If fact, encourage them to give you constructive criticism.  Admit your mistakes and teach your staff to be honest too.
  4. Pursue Something New:  Every once in awhile get out of your comfort zone. Implementing needed change may feel uncomfortable but is often necessary for your business to grow.
  5. You are an Asset: Remember to take care of yourself because your health is important, and because you are important to your business.  Maintain a good work/play balance.  This will enhance your mental outlook.

Work-Life Balance: How to Get It

With working professionals having technology accessible 24/7, fearing job loss, and ultimately working 50+ hours each week, it’s clear that stress is common.  But it can also be damaging.   A work-life balance might mean something different to everyone, but it means everything to your health and happiness.  Here are some tips to help balance them: 1 – Detach yourself from your electronics!  Spend some quality time playing a board game with your kids at night. Sit down for half an hour with a book in your hand.  Turn your phone off.  Put your tablet away.  Get rid of the text and email distractions because most of the time they’re work related.  Just unplug for a short time each day! 2 – Exercise!  It’s important to make time in your calendar daily to pump feel-good endorphins through your body.  It helps to lift your mood and tackle your day without feeling sluggish.  Even if you just take a walk on your lunch break (without your cell phone) or go for a walk with your family at night (without your cell phone).  Just make time for some daily 30-minute movement (even Yoga counts).  3 – Stop being an overachiever!  Life is complicated.  As adults, we have more responsibilities.  Often we strive to be perfectionists in out-of-reach situations.  Don’t push yourself so hard.  We are all human.  Work hard, but let your overachieving attitude go. Don’t demand so much of yourself.  It just creates more unwanted stress.  Goals are good. Perfectionism is not. PJ's New Pic (smaller) ActionCoach-logo

Successful Communication for Business

Research shows that in general, in a business setting, both men and women want to know the exit to a conversation BEFORE they feel safe to actually engage in it. 3 Helpful Hints:
  • Let others know if the conversation will be painful.
  • Let others know how long the conversation will take.
  • Let others know the end result you are asking for.
Think about starting a business conversation like this: “I realize how busy you are so I will only need one minute of your time to let you know about __________.” This is especially helpful if you are making phone calls, so the person on the other end can relax and listen, knowing it won’t take long and knowing what the conversation will be about. Plus, they are less likely to make an excuse as to why they can’t talk. Another option (especially for sales teams) is starting a conversation like this: “I realize that your time is very valuable so I will only need two minutes to schedule a time for a second call where I can do a 10-minute demonstration of our ___________.” Here are some other things to consider during communication:
  • Facial expressions
  • Tone of voice
  • Words you say
Be very self-aware of how you are speaking to others.  Even practice these when talking on the phone; it actually does make a difference.   Communicating successfully comes with practice and consistent attention and effort.  It is a skill to learn, and we cannot afford to overlook it.   PJ's New Pic (smaller) ActionCoach-logo

Drive Sales During the Holidays

Since holiday shopping starts earlier and earlier each year, it’s a good idea to start prepping your business for the holidays as early as possible.  Mid-November is when many customers begin holiday shopping! If you offer purchases on your website, you need to provide a seamless, fast web experience to your customers.  Not only do you want to make sure your website is fast, but you’ll also want to make sure it is mobile-optimized for convenient shopping.   Shipping costs and cutoffs are extremely important this time of year.  Customers obviously want deliveries before the holidays, so think about offering in-store-pickup when possible. You can offer customers the option to buy online but to pick-up in store.  Or make sure your delivery cut-off dates are not too close to the holidays so you don’t have that added pressure to deliver at the last minute. When emailing out holiday promotions, don’t waste your time by sending certain offers to the wrong shoppers.  Segment your lists.  Invest properly so you can reach the high-value customers that will come back again and again.  Target each segment with content that’s important to only them.  Promote wisely and it will pay off.   It’s crazy enough this time of year, so be wise in your marketing decisions.  Get help if needed.  Start early.  And think smart.  End your year with a high profit-margin and a successful business! Boss or Leader?

There is a distinct difference between a boss and a leader.  Leaders are strong, effective professionals who encourage and motivate their teams.  They create a happy environment that boosts overall morale, which leads to higher productivity.  Bosses view themselves as high authority figures, looking down on their employees, creating poor performance and misunderstood team members. A boss often leads to high staff turnover, less teamwork, fear and unhappiness in the workplace, and can affect the company’s overall brand.  Motivation and encouragement is how leaders create a well organized, uplifting, hardworking team of individuals.  Lead by example!  Show your employees good work ethic and support them when they follow suit. Teach them to learn from their mistakes, don’t blame or shame them.  Nurture and help develop your staff for future successes. Leaders take responsibility.  They appreciate individuality.  They inspire enthusiasm, and they instill confidence.  Ensuring your employees are happy and satisfied with where they are at and where they are going not only allows your business to grow, but it allows your employees to grow.  Providing them with training and opportunities encourages them to be loyal to your business. And loyalty is hard to replace.   Don’t be a boss…be a leader!  You will see a difference in your team and your business! PJ's New Pic (smaller) ActionCoach-logo
