Ways to Create a High Performing Team

What management often forgets, is that both sides of a company need to give and take.  The leader and the employee need to work together to achieve great results.  Because engaged employees lead to high team performance, a positive company culture is necessary. Ways to create a high performing team:Build a diverse team.  Employees from different backgrounds and from diverse cultures provide different points of view, which can greatly benefit a company. – The team comes first.  Instead of putting customers first, make the team the priority.  The company team needs to be well put together in order to please customers. – Provide clear communication.  Team members may miss important tasks or become frustrated if communication is unclear.  Make sure they know what is expected of them. – Create an enjoyable environment.  Work doesn’t have to include boring meetings. Encourage employees to be themselves and to have some fun. Don’t create a culture of scared team members, worried about breaking rules and never being allowed to think for themselves.  Companies need creativity, innovation, trust, and motivation.  A happy, healthy company culture is what all leaders should be striving for. rsz_2018-headshotActionCoach-logo

Good Communication = Business Success

Good communication isn’t just about solving conflicts in the workplace, it’s also about building relationships and building a successful business. Good communication helps employees feel heard.  Good communication makes information easy and clear to understand.  And good communication makes people better listeners.  All of these lead to higher customer satisfaction, happier employees, and increased revenue. When employees feel disrespected, or disregarded, there is often tension or conflict that follow.  If there is good communication within the team, employees can express their needs easier.  This leads to increased performance and higher employee engagement.  This also improves connections between team members, leading to a more positive work environment. Good communication helps create better client relationships.  Communication is different between satisfied and unsatisfied customers.  If employees are trained to communicate effectively, they will be better equipped to handle client relationships.  This leads to happier customers, which also means profits increase. Good communication helps build a better company culture, increases sales and production, enhances employee engagement, and creates a positive environment for innovation. Growing Your Business with a Strategy

It’s crucial for growing companies to make sure that everything taking place in their business has a specific and achievable, targeted goal.  Make sure every employee is working on something that is helping the business reach that goal.  If they are not, then it’s time to come up with a strategy to make that happen. Step 1:  Define specific goals and document them clearly. Step 2:  Make sure everyone in the business knows where they stand. Step 3:  Break down the goals into quarterly objectives. Step 4:  Post the goals everywhere.  Make sure everyone is motivated. Step 5:  Take each objective and make a list of tasks required to achieve each goal. Step 6:  Make sure each employee understands their relationship between themselves and each goal. Every quarter there should be new objectives assigned to the employees, working towards new goals or continuing to reach the current goals.  Always make sure they are fully aware of their connection with the goals and that everything they do should be to reach them. Remember, motivation and inspiration goes a long way.  Keep your team motivated and your business goals will be successfully achieved. How to Reach Your Audience

When running a small business, it’s best practice to develop a solid marketing strategy.  One of your main goals is to rise above the competition.  You not only want to reach your target audience, but you want to appeal to your niche customers so you get more out of your marketing plan. We all know that it’s best to stand out as the number one expert in your field.  That is why it’s extremely important to start with your niche customers.  You want to focus on a tight market so you can reach new leads faster, with a higher chance of turning them into buyers. Here are some tips to reach your target audience:
  1. Find out what value your business brings to your customers.
  2. Identify how much customers spend with you, and how often.
  3. Send surveys on a consistent basis for feedback to make improvements.
  4. Track the activity of your top competitors to find the value they provide their customers.
  5. Reposition yourself in the market by re-branding or adjusting pricing, if needed.
  6. Update your marketing plan to reflect any changes in customer spending.
Remember that building relationships with, and listening to, your customers not only gives you the opportunity to find that specific niche, but it provides your business with the opportunity to grow.  Don’t let your business get stuck, or lost in the shuffle. Consistently make changes based on what your audience wants and needs.  Rise above the rest and STAY the expert in your field. PJ's New Pic (smaller) ActionCoach-logo

5 Problem Solving Strategies

Business owners are always looking for ways to problem solve.  Sometimes the simplest strategies are the ones we never even think about.  Here are 5 problem solving strategies to help your business succeed.
  1. Sleep on it…
  2. Find out what can wait and what can’t…
  3. Break it down to bite size pieces…
  4. Work on a timeline…
  5. Use your network – no reason to go it alone…
#1.  Sleep can actually be an active function.  Sleep improves our memory and enables us to consolidate new information with the knowledge we already have.  It also changes the quality of our stored information.  We also often wake up with solutions to a problem that we need solved. #2.  Time wasted in your business always equals wasted money.  And that’s not a good thing.  Since you want to be effective and productive, you will need to figure out what can wait and what can’t.  What brings you the most profit?  What wastes your time?  Make a list and discover what will make your business successful. #3.  If you’re feeling overwhelmed, break your tasks into smaller pieces.  Figure out what needs to get done first.  Make a list of priorities and focus on each step at a time. #4.  Businesses tend to go in all sorts of different directions.  The key to knowing which challenges are next is to create a business timeline.  Start with years 1 to 5, refine your approach for years 5 to 10, maturing for year 10 and beyond. #5.  You can gain access to knowledge from professionals in almost every type of business when you’re involved in a networking group.  Don’t try and find the answers to everything on your own.  Use the power of your contacts to enhance your business. Networking as a Marketing Strategy

Network (all-free-download)

The #1 reason businesses “network” is to increase leads to the business and make more money. When you ask a business owner where “networking’ ranks in importance in their marketing plans most will always say it’s in the top 3 strategies. So, if the #1 reason businesses join BNI, join a chamber, or other group is for networking and networking is one of the top marketing strategies…then it begs the question: What are you doing, reading, or attending to increase your knowledge and skills in networking? Here are some tips to make your networking an effective marketing strategy… Before you head out the door….
  • Be clear on ideal customers
  • Identify the best networking functions to attend (find out from others where your ideal customer ‘hangs out’)
  • Set goals for how many new prospects you’d like to meet at the event
In the moment….
  • Top 4 things that must exist if someone is going to buy from you: They must like you, believe you, have confidence in you, and trust you (if all four exist, they may buy from you. If any one of the four is missing, they will never buy from you.)
  • Of these four things (like, believe, confidence, and trust), like is the most important. It is the “ticket in the door”. A prospect must like you before they will ever believe you, have confidence or trust you. No one ever says, “I trust that person but I don’t like them…”
  • The “close” in networking is to get an ideal target to agree to a one-on-one follow-up meeting. Get a very specific commitment if possible.
After you connect with someone….
  • Prompt follow-up (Have a system for same day if possible.)
  • Send a personal note by mail! (The average worker in the U.S. gets 52 emails a day and over 50% are deleted without opening. 6 billion individual pieces of mail are delivered each year in the U.S. – 75% are thrown in the trash without opening. But, over 90% of handwritten, hand addressed notes are opened and viewed – which statistic do you choose?)
